Mantra Circle

Once a month I accompany Emma Verkuijl (guitar) and Gerard van Soelen (percussion) in a mantra circle in which we sing mantras, chants and other heartsongs.  Singing mantra's has positive effect on body, mind and our overall well-being. 

The repetitive words of mantra's affect every cell in your body, resonate deeply, and establishe communication between the outer and inner life.  Singing together in a group creates connection. While you also come home to yourself at the same time. You don't have to be able to sing beautifully or in a certain way and you can also just be quiet and listen. 

Most mantras are chanted in ancient Sanskrit, one of the oldest languages ​​of mankind and with great impact.  The most famous mantra is AUM. Every experience, every creation arises from that primordial sound. AUM is connected with the three primordial gods and powers in the universe: the creative power (Brahma), the sustaining power (Vishnu) and the power that takes everything away (Shiva). These three forces are present in every person and by reciting AUM you can strengthen those forces / qualities and / or bring them into balance with each other.
